
Maria Carolina Lopez is a Washington, DC–based real estate professional with deep ties to the Capitol Hill community and a strong background in business, finance, and public affairs. Originally from Colombia, Maria brings an international perspective and a commitment to service that guide her work with clients throughout the DC area.
Maria holds a Master’s degree in Government, Management and Public Affairs from Universidad Externado de Colombia through a joint executive program with Columbia University in New York. She also earned a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and International Relations from Universidad Externado. Throughout her academic career, she received multiple scholarships for academic excellence.
Professionally, Maria has spent nearly two decades in leadership at Capital Community News, where she serves as Chief Financial Officer and Associate Editor. In this role, she oversees financial strategy, operations, and business development while maintaining strong relationships with hundreds of local businesses and organizations across Washington, DC.
Maria is deeply involved in the community she serves. She is a board member of the Capitol Hill Community Foundation and Anacostia ACE, organizations dedicated to strengthening neighborhoods, supporting local initiatives, and expanding economic opportunities across the District.
Fluent in Spanish and English, Maria is known for her professionalism, attention to detail, and dedication to helping clients navigate important decisions with confidence.
